About Us

CLPI is a new company, but it carries almost 40 years of bottling & canning experience.

Of these 40 years, the last 16 were all about the basics of sustainability which started with the idea of running without lubrication.

Besides a consulting activity, CLPI represents important suppliers that play a role in sustainability and keeping your conveyors in the best condition for optimum reliability and performance.

Background

In the early seventies, the attention for the environment started with publications like ‘The Club of Rome’. Reactions were very different, and most people were in denial of their forecasts.

In the meantime, the interest has grown and now, 40 years later, large corporations are publishing about their ‘Green Strategies’ and many have Sustainability Programs and managers and for sure they will work with targets and bonusses to achieve their goals.

Wikipedia spends a page on the ‘CSO’, the Chief Sustainability Officer!

The scope for sustainability projects for the beverage industry is broad, packaging lines are just a part of it but one that is constantly running. Late last century some attempts started to save water on conveyors, not very successful at that moment. Besides, the focus was on TPM in which machine conditions, working conditions and safety played a prominent role for this idea.

Developments

Since then, there is a growing competition in the brewery world to reduce the ratio of liters of pure water used to make liters of beer. Currently this is around 3 to 3,5 for the larger breweries with some plants achieving as good as 2,6.

But sustainability is more than saving water. It is the total footprint that operations leave, in concrete for packaging conveyors it means that it is just as important to save energy and on top of that work with materials that last at least as long to avoid creating more waste and all against feasible investments.

“In the end it must be an investment that can be recovered to make it properly attractive for the industry. This makes sustainability sustainable!”
